RISE Advanced Fitness Data:
Senior Computer Science Capstone
Overview:
I built this application for my year long senior project. It was an individual project where I learned Swift, Apple's Healthkit API and SQLite all while creating this application. This project was awarded second place by Travelers Insurance out of 12 other senior computer science projects.
Abstract:
The industry for health and fitness technology has exploded, making way for new expensive applications and devices. These applications track advanced fitness metrics like recovery from sleep or the difficulty of a workout. RISE is an iOS application on the Apple App Store that provides this advanced fitness for free. RISE utilizes personalized Apple Watch data to track a user’s Recovery, Workout Intensity and Daily Strain. Using Apple’s HealthKit API, RISE takes a user’s heart rate and workouts to provide more than just individual metrics. RISE not only provides a daily Recovery percentage, Workout Intensities and Strain score but also displays this weekly data using engaging data visualizations. RISE is an easy to use, low-cost way for Apple Watch users to get more out of their device. RISE allows users to deepen their understanding of their health and get closer to their fitness goals.

Artist Statement:
The works in It’s About Time use a media-focused lens to produce a speculative image of the future for women. Digitally produced, invented TIME magazine covers present the tiresome barriers that still confine women from spaces dominated by men. With satirical humor, I poke fun at the stereotypes that feel so tired and ancient. Frustrated and annoyed, I portray women breaking out from these confinements. These imagined trailblazing women are produced by digitally collaging a compilation of the women that have made headlines before them. Each cover is made from a vault of images already published within TIME magazine spanning back 60 to 70 years. They are printed on vinyl, adhesive posters that are imperfect and temporary, just as the milestones that they present.
